Humana To Open Clinics In Former Walmart Health Locations That Are Closed

Humana’s health services business, CenterWell, plans to lease and open senior-focused primary care centers at Walmart Health’s 23 former health locations in Florida, Georgia, Missouri and Texas, the company announced Wednesday.

In April, Walmart executives said the business environment is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit health professionals and physicians amid the US health care workforce crisis and a tight labor market. workers. “Leasing these spaces to a well-known and successful healthcare delivery organization is a win-win for customers and patients, as we continue to focus on our core business of health and wellness Pharmacy and Optical,” Brian Setzer, executive vice president, Walmart Health & Wellness, said in a statement.

At CenterWell, the Walmart locations are being acquired by a company that already provides care to about 318,000 seniors at about 300 facilities in 15 states as of March 31 under the CenterWell Senior brand Primary Care or its sister brand Conviva Care Centers.

“CenterWell Senior Senior Primary Care Center and Conviva Care Centers locations are designed specifically with the needs of seniors in mind, and include a dedicated staff of board-certified physicians, nurses and medical assistants who coordinate care and care coaches, social workers, behavioral health professionals, and pharmaceutical scientists,” Humana said Wednesday.
