As the police shooting of Sonya Massey continues – after body camera footage showed her senselessly shot – many celebrities have taken to their platforms to call for justice .
Massey, 36, called 911 to report a suspected disturbance at her home on July 6, and when two deputies arrived at her home in Springfield, Illinois, she immediately asked them to don’t “hurt him.” Two deputies, including Sean Grayson, arrived and searched his home without success finding the soldier.
With the officers already looking annoyed, Grayson asked Massey to show him some identification, which he frantically searched for, looking nervous as he searched. Grayson then pointed to a pot of boiling water sitting on the stove, which Massey proceeded to take out, as he said, “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.” His interpretation of the Bible somehow led to Grayson needlessly aggravating the situation and leaving Massey in a pool of his own blood.
After Grayson shot him in the face, he disgustingly discouraged his partner from getting medical supplies, as he was reportedly still breathing at the time. “You can go get it, but that’s rude,” Grayson said softly, “There’s nothing you can do, man.”
He added, “What else are we doing? I don’t take hot boiling water to the king’s face.” One deputy confirmed that, “At least we can try to stop the bleeding,” but no one took medical action.
Grayson then lied to other officers in the area, saying, “He had boiling water and he came to me, with boiling water. He said he will scold me in the name of Jesus and come to me with boiling water.” He could also be heard calling her a “crazy f**king bi**h.”
Since the world saw Massey’s murder on camera, Grayson has been fired and is currently being held in the Sangamon County Jail without bond. If convicted, he faces 45 years for murder, 6-30 years for battery, and 2-5 years for disorderly conduct.
The public expressed outrage at Grayson’s wrongful act, with many figures speaking out, including Massey’s son and father, attorney general Ben Crump, President Biden and others. Celebrities have also used their platforms to call for justice in Sonya Massey’s murder, including Cardi B, Solange, Nick Young and many more.

“That Sonia Massey video is very disturbing. It’s exhausting from start to finish,” Cardi said during X Spaces. The Grammy winner also called out Grayson’s reported history of multiple DUIs, and work in various police departments — suggesting that he may have felt invincible.
He added: “When you give someone, especially a police officer, so many chances to get reinstated, that’s why when he shot him, he just knew no one would tell him. nothing.” “I swear to God, when the case starts I don’t want to hear him apologize to him. I don’t want to hear, like, ‘Since I killed Sonya, I’ve had nightmares, I haven’t slept at night.’ I don’t want to hear any of that shi*t when the case comes, because motherf**ker, we heard what you called her. You called him a bi**h, you left him there to die, and you said so yourself.
Cardi concluded, “That’s why when the police mistreat a family member, when a police officer mistreats your friend, when a police officer kills someone, don’t think he’s exaggerating. Fight to the end, fight for justice, because they really think they will get away. ”

POTUS, Joe Biden, has released a statement following Sonya Massey’s murder, sharing how “heartbroken” he is and praising the Attorney General for acting quickly.
“Sonya Massey, beloved mother, friend, daughter, and young Black woman, should be alive today. “Sonya called the police because she was worried about a potential attacker,” he began. “When we call for help, all of us Americans — no matter who we are or where we live — should do so without fear for our lives. Sonya’s death at the hands of a responding officer it reminds us that Black Americans often face fear for their safety in ways most of us don’t. Sonya’s family deserves justice.”
He added: “I am very sad for his children and his entire family as they face this senseless and senseless loss. Jill and I mourn with the rest of the country and our prayers go out to Sonya’s family, loved ones and the community at this difficult time. I commend the swift action taken by the Springfield State’s Attorney’s office. While we are waiting for the case to be prosecuted, let us pray to comfort those who are grieving.”
Speaking about police reform, Biden concluded, “Congress must pass the George Floyd Justice in Police Act now. Our fundamental commitment to justice is at stake.”

Nick Young

Former NBA star Nick Young spoke volumes without saying much about the X post after the shocking video of the Massey police killing.
“So the police shot and killed a 36 year old black lady who was holding a pot bcuz she said I punish you in the name of Jesus..and here we are playing in the USA,” he wrote. The young man was talking a lot about the Olympics that are currently happening in Paris.
His words caused different opinions, some doubted his opinion, and others agreed.
“What’s one cop to do with Olympic basketball?” replied another, as another said, “A cop did it, they’re all in jail and charged with 1st degree murder. Being American is not a problem.”
A third person responded to the liberal representative, writing, “Yes, because people who are proud of this country are as offended by it as you are. Not every unique event is indicative of a larger issue. He is charged with murder, as most Americans believe he should be. ”
