Fresno State area Career Development Center has partnered with the Pathways to Public Service Program, an initiative overseen by the United States Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Public Health Information Technology Coordinator, to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to begin jobs in public service.

The Pathways to the Community Service Programfounded in 2019, aims to produce a pipeline of diverse, qualified and influential students who will become the next generation of social workers, providing effective health and human services and promote the development of medicine, public health and social services.

As members of the program, students can:

  • Participate in career fairs and professional development workshops.
  • Learn about the federal hiring process.
  • Serve as campus ambassadors for the program.
  • Liaising with staff employed within the US Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Find internships and entry-level positions.

Since its inception, the program has hired more than 100 students for internships. Students who complete the internship and meet the requirements are eligible for permanent employment with the US Department of Health and Human Services’ joint venturesincluding the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health.
